Week In Review - Opening Weekend 2004-2005 for the Generals proved to be two tough battles against Muskegon and Quad City. On Friday, October 15, 2004 the Generals dropped at 6-2 decision against the Muskegon Fury. Gabriel Proulx and Bobby Kukulka scored for Flint. Both teams combined for 309 penalty minutes in the contest. On Saturday night, Flint earned a point in the 4-3 shootout loss against Quad City. Proulx (2) John DiPace (1) and Kris Waltze (1) scored for Flint.
Sherwood/UHL Player of the Week Nominee - Right Wing Bobby Reynolds is our nominee for the U.H.L. Player of the Week ending October 17, 2004. In two games, Reynolds had 4 assists and figured in 4 of the 5 goals Flint scored during the weekend.
Goaltender of the Week Nominee - Marco Emond is our nominee for the U.H.L. Goaltender of the Week ending October 17, 2004. Emond was superb against the Quad City Mallards on Saturday night stopping 34 of 37 shots gaining the Generals one point in the shootout decision against the Mallards.

Friday night will be the first of 6 regular season meetings against the Wings this season. The all-time record versus Kalamazoo is 17-10-3. The Wings are coached by Mark Reeds who is back for his second season with Kalamazoo. The key returnees for Kalamazoo include center Yannick Carpentier, left wing Andrew Luciuk, forward, Tim Turner and goaltender Chad Alban. Joining the Wings this season is veteran NHL defenseman Zarley Zalapski who currently leads the team in goals scored with two. The Wings will wrap up their weekend hosting Port Huron on Saturday.

Saturday is the first of 6 meeting against the Komets this season. The all-time record versus Fort Wayne is 16-18-3. Greg Puhalski is back as Head Coach for the K's. Some of the familiar faces back in the Komet line up are centers, Colin Chaulk and Sean Venedam left wing Dan Stewart, right wingers Dustin Virag and Kevin Kotyluk, goaltenders Kevin St. Pierre and Kelly Sheilds and defenseman Steve Rodberg. Former B.C. Icemen sniper, right winger Chris Grenville has also joined the Komets this season and is the team leader with 3 goals. Legendary play-by-play voice of the Komets, Bob Chase, returns for his 52nd consecutive season rinkside calling Komet hockey.

Right winger Bobby Reynolds opens up strong out of the gates to start the season with 4 assists while figuring in on all but 1 of the Generals' goals this weekend. Defenseman Gabriel Proulx scored twice and is second in team scoring with 3 points. Left winger Kris Waltze is the penalty minutes leader with 41. The Generals lead the UHL in penalty minutes with 236.
