Rozier, Mickey Lead Claws to Showcase Victory

Santa Cruz, CA - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, started their NBA D-League Showcase 2016 on the right foot with a convincing 110-97 win over the Bakersfield Jam at Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz.

The Red Claws (12-7) were led by their two players on assignment from the Boston Celtics. Terry Rozier led Maine with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists, and Jordan Mickey added another double-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Mickey continues to lead the D-League in blocks, and is the reigning NBA D-League Player of the Month for December.

The Red Claws opened the game making their first four shots. Omari Johnson, Rozier and Malcolm Miller provided the offense in the early going, but Bakersfield hung in there - Earl Clark's lay-up made it 29-28 Maine after the first quarter. The Red Claws continued to maintain in the second, out-scoring the Jam 23-20 and taking a 52-48 halftime lead.

Maine poured it on in the 3rd quarter, out-scoring Bakersfield 32-18. Mickey's slam started a run for Maine, and the Claws ended the period with an 18 point lead. In the 4th quarter, Maine extended to a 22 point advantage, coasting to victory.

Malcolm Miller finished with 15 points for the Red Claws, while Omari Johnson and Coty Clarke each added 12 points. Levi Randolph and Coron Williams each scored 10 for Maine, which shot 49% (40-81) from the floor, and 38% (14-37) from three-point range.

Bakersfield (11-10) was led by Clark, whose 28 points led all scorers. Xavier Munford, a former draft pick by the Red Claws, added 18, 7 rebounds and 11 assists in the loss.
