Bakersfield Falls to Maine Red Claws at Showcase

SANTA CRUZ, CA - The Bakersfield Jam (9-13) fell to the Maine Red Claws (12-7) 110-97 on Thursday at the 2016 NBA Development League Showcase in Santa Cruz, CA.
Bakersfield was paced by Earl Clark's game-high 28 points with nine rebounds. Xavier Munford posted a double-double of 18 points and 11 assists with seven boards. Askia Booker added 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting and three steals in 23 minutes of relief for the Jam.
Seven Maine players scored in double figures, led by Boston Celtics assignee' Terry Rozier's 23 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. Celtics teammate Jordan Mickey, also on assignment, chipped in with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four blocks. Coty Clarke also added a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds with three steals off the bench.
Rozier led the Red Claws in the first quarter with 11 points, which included shooting five-of-six from the free throw line, and guided Maine to a 29-28 lead at the end of one. The Jam received a 12-point effort from Clark in the opening period, while Munford notched six assists and four rebounds to start off.
Maine shot 9-of-18 from the field (50%) in the second quarter, as seven different Red Claws made a bucket on their way to a 52-48 halftime advantage. The lead changed hands seven times in the opening 24 minutes of play, but neither team held a double-digit advantage at any point. Clark finished the half with 15 points and seven rebounds.
The Red Claws led for the entire duration of the second half and by as many as 24. Maine was able to put the game away in the third when up 69-62 and 4:25 left, they closed the period on a 15-4 run. Bakersfield wasn't able to get within single digits throughout the fourth quarter.
Bakersfield's next game will be their final at the NBA D-League Showcase on Sunday, January 10 at 10:00 a.m. PT.
