Burlington, N.C. - More than four-and-a-half hours after first pitch at Burlington Athletic Stadium, the Burlington Royals pulled out a 4-1 win over the Bluefield Blue Jays.

Both teams found the scoreboard in the first inning. With one out in the top of the first, Angel Camacho brought in Eric Rivera on a single to make it 1-0 Bluefield. However, Burlington tied it up in the bottom half when Vinnie Pasquantino plated Michael Massey with an RBI single of his own.

Before the third inning began, however, the game was forced into a weather delay that lasted one hour and 47 minutes. At the time, heavy rain and ferocious winds made for unplayable conditions.

However, the game started back up with the third inning at 8:56 p.m. From there, both teams remained scoreless up through the sixth. Then, in the bottom of the seventh, the Royals took a 3-1 lead after Massey was plunked with the bases loaded and Pasquantino hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Kevon Jackson to score.

In the bottom of the eighth, Burlington made it a 4-1 edge after William Hancock crossed home on a single from Mikey Filia.

Zack Phillips, who was pitching for the Royals when they took the lead, earned the win after three scoreless innings in which he struck out four batters. Blue Jays reliever Juan Acosta, who was charged with Burlington's two runs in the seventh, took the loss. Royals lefty Elliott Anderson got the save after pitching a scoreless ninth.

Burlington and Bluefield face off at Burlington Athletic Stadium in the final game of their series on Friday. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
