Victoria Royals News Release
Victoria, B.C. - The Victoria Royals are back home this weekend to take on the Kamloops Blazers at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre.
The Royals return to Victoria after a three-game road trip against B.C. division rivals Prince George, Kamloops and Kelowna. The team went 0-2-1 on the road with a nail bitter finish in the Saturday night game against the Rockets. This weekend, Victoria welcomes back the Blazers for the second time this season and the last before the new year.
Friday night the Royals are putting on a Country Bash where fans are encouraged to dress up in their best cowboy hats and boots for some good old fashion fun. There will be plenty of country music to party along with while fans cheer on Victoria as they look for a win against Kamloops. Friday's game will also feature a special honour and salute to a local military member as part of Babcock's Forces Friday initiative. The night also marks the return of the Mini/Minor game with the Victoria Admirals during the first intermission.
On Saturday, the Royals host the annual Canadian Armed Forces Military Appreciation Night sponsored by Babcock Canada. To mark this special occasion, the first 2,000 fans will receive a military themed challenge coin and the team will be wearing a special jersey to be auctioned off with proceeds going towards the Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) in Esquimalt. Fans will have the opportunity to bid on the military themed jerseys upon arriving to the SOFMC until the end of the second intermission. Saturday's 50/50 profits will also be split between the MFRC and one lucky Royals fan at the end of the game.
As part of the commemoration on Saturday, the Military will be bringing special vehicles and equipment for display in the plaza outside of the arena. Both the military and Babcock Canada will have booths around the concourse, with Gate 1 featuring the military canine unit. The Royal Canadian Navy will also be in attendance to preform the Canadian national anthem.
For tickets to the Royals Country Bash and the Canadian Military Armed Forces Appreciation Night visit the Victoria Royals ticketing page or call the Select Your Ticket box office at 250-220-7777.
