Reading, PA - The Reading Royals, proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms, start the 2018-19 regular season with back-to-back games at Santander Arena Oct. 13-14 vs. the Worcester Railers.

3) Kirk MacDonald's second season
2018-19 marks Kirk MacDonald's second season as Royals Head Coach. In his first campaign, the Royals were third in the North Division with 87 points, finishing two points back of Adirondack for first. Second seasons have typically been kind to Royals Head Coaches. In 2004-05, Derek Clancey increased the Royals' point total from 84 to 93 and the Royals won their division.
Similarly, in former Head Coach Larry Courville's second full season at the helm, the 2010-11 Royals bettered their regular season point total from 80 to 93.
2) Final roster
The Royals will submit their opening night roster to the ECHL on Wed., Oct. 10.
1) Opening Weekend Activities (presented by Met-Ed)
On Saturday, the puck drops at 7:00 p.m. and the Royals will give away cowbells to the first 6,500 fans and look to set multiple cowbell world records. Reading will also host a pregame block party (performance by The Uptown Band) from 2:00-6:00 p.m. outside Santander Arena and the team will be introduced to the fans on a red carpet at 4:15 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 14 at 5:00 p.m. is the second game of the season, featuring appearances from Philadelphia Eagles legends Bill Bergey and Vince Papale. The Royals will host a pregame tailgate outside Santander Arena from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
