
Royals to Face Elmira Jackals in Eastern Conference

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL today announced that the team will face the Elmira Jackals in the ECHL's Eastern Conference Quarterfinals best-of-five playoff series starting Tuesday, April 3, 2012 (7:05 pm) at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. The first round series will pit the eighth seeded Royals against the top seeded Jackals. Games One and Two of the best-of-five will be played at the Sovereign Center with Games Three through Five (Four and Five, if necessary) to be played at First Arena in Elmira, New York. The full schedule of the series is set out below.
This marks the second time the respective histories of the Royals and Jackals that the two teams have faced-off against one another in a playoff series. The Royals defeated the Jackals four-games-to-two in the 2008 North Division Semi-Finals. In that series, three of Reading's four victories came in overtime, including the series clinching Game Six, which was resolved in the second overtime. The Royals and Jackals faced one another sixteen times over the course of the regular season this year with Reading compiling a 5-6-2-3 in those games. Ten of the sixteen played between Reading and Elmira this year were resolved by a one-goal differential.
