Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed forward Andrew Favot ["FAV et"] to an ECHL contract. In other transactions announced today, the Royals (i) activated forward Casey Haines from the 7-Day Injured Reserve; (ii) transferred forward John Scrymgeour from the 3-Day Injured Reserve to the 7-Day Injured Reserve; and (iii) placed goaltender Karel St. Laurent on the 3-Day Injured Reserve. In a transaction previously completed, the Royals released forward Chase Watson.

Favot (5'7/171) (23), a first year pro from King City, Ontario, started the season with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL, where he scored a goal and assisted on four others (five points) in twenty-three games. The Royals claimed Favot, who was released by Utah, off ECHL waivers on Monday. Last season, Favot, in his senior year at R.I.T., led the team with forty-three points (13g-30a) and fifty-three penalty minutes in thirty-six games, earning a selection to the All-Atlantic Hockey Association's third team. After completing his senior season with the Tigers, he joined the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL and registered four points in six regular season games. He also picked up an assist in three playoff games with the Jackals. Favot, who established a career school record in his four seasons at R.I.T. by playing to a collective plus-43 (+43), is the second all-time leading scorer in R.I.T. history with 130 points (41g-89a) in 140 total collegiate games.

The Royals take on the Wheeling Nailers for the third consecutive game this Friday (December 16, 2011 @ 7:35 pm) at Cambria County War Memorial Arena in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. The game night broadcast will start at 7:05 pm with the Red Robin Gourmet Burger Pre-Game Warm-up Show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Reading. Streaming audio is available free of charge courtesy of America One through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com.
