December 14, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release

Alaska Aces rookie forward, Chris Bruton has been loaned to the Chris Bruton of the American Hockey League, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Wednesday. Bruton spent training camp with the Rivermen this year prior to making his pro debut with Alaska. The Aces host the Ontario Reign on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as they try to improve upon their league-best, 12-game point streak. Tickets are on sale for all three games. For more information, please call the Aces at 907.258.ACES or visit them online at ww.facebook.com/alaskaaceshockey.

Bruton, 24, has 11 points (5g, 6a) in 24 games this season. The rookie is one of only four players who has appeared in every Aces game so far, joining three veterans in Bryan Miller, Brian Swanson, and Steve Ward. Bruton's 58 penalty minutes lead the Aces, and rank second among all ECHL rookies, along with his eight major penalties. Bruton joined the Aces this season following a three-year collegiate career at Acadia University. He was better than a point per game player for the Axemen, combining for 74 points (34g, 40a) in 69 contests. The 5"11", 205 lbs. Bruton also threw his weight around chipping in 118 penalty minutes. Before entering college, Bruton captained the Spokane Chiefs to a Memorial Cup Championship in 2008, playing alongside former Ace Judd Blackwater. That season he finished third in team scoring and second in penalty minutes. It was the perfect culmination of a solid WHL career for Bruton who had 63 points (26g, 37a) in 67 games that season. While in Spokane, he was also teammates with current Aces forward Chris Langkow. Following the Chiefs Memorial Cup championship, the Calgary, Alberta native attended NHL training camp with the Calgary Flames.

Bruton becomes eighth Aces player this season called up to the AHL, and the second this week, joining Russ Sinkewich who was loaned to the Abbotsford Head on Monday. Aces players have now been loaned to three different AHL teams this year.

The Aces host the Ontario Reign on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as they try to improve upon their league-best, 12-game point streak. Tickets are on sale for all three games. For more information, please call the Aces at 907.258.ACES or visit them online at www.facebook.com/alaskaaceshockey.
