Royals Sign Bryan Bridges As Emergency Back-Up Goaltender

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that the Royals have signed Bryan Bridges ("BRIDGE ehz") as an emergency back-up goaltender. A twenty-year old native of Victoria, British Columbia, Bridges recently completed a five year major junior hockey career, the last three years of which were spent with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League, where he went 24-12-4 with a 2.59 goals against average and a .916 save percentage this season. In 2004-05, Bridges racked up 36 wins in 58 games with the Thunderbirds and put up career bests in goals against average (1.79) and save percentage (.927). A member of the 2002 Memorial Cup Champion Kootenay Ice, Bridges holds the Thunderbirds' team career record with 20 shutouts, including a league leading 13 in 2004-05. Bridges is expected to be in uniform for the Royals tonight (7:35 pm) at WesBanco Arena, in Wheeling, West Virginia, in Game Three of the North Division Semi-Final series against the Wheeling Nailers. Royals' game day broadcasts can be heard on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Ephrata and on the internet at www.royalshockey.com and/or www.sportsjuice.com with pre-game beginning 30 minutes before the opening face-off. Streaming video is also available through the Royals' website on a pay per view basis provided by B2 Networks.
