
Royals' Shane Farkas Named WHL Eli Wilson Goaltending Goaltender of the Week

Victoria, BC - The Western Hockey League today announced that Victoria Royals' netminder Shane Farkas has been named the WHL Eli Wilson Goaltending Goaltender of the Week.
The product of Penticton, BC earned the award after he appeared in two games for Victoria and posted a 2-0-0-0 record. In those two contests, Farkas registered a 0.49 goals against average (GAA), a 0.986 save percentage (SV%) and one shutout.
The 1999-born goaltender stopped 71 of the 72 shots he faced this past week, that began with a 29-save shutout performance in a 1-0 victory over the Kelowna Rockets on Wednesday night. Farkas made 42 saves in his second victory of the week, a 2-1 overtime win on Friday against his former team the Portland Winterhawks.
So far this season, Farkas has collected a 17-7-1-0 record, a 2.15 GAA, a 0.931 SV% and two shutouts in 26 games for Victoria. Those numbers rank him third in the WHL in save percentage, tied for third in wins, fourth in goals against average and tied for seventh in shutouts.
This marks the fourth time in his WHL career, and third this season, that the 6-2, 187 lb goaltender has won the award. Farkas also earned the award in the 2017-18 season as a member of the Portland Winterhawks.
In 110 career WHL regular season games, Farkas has posted a record of 64-31-4-4 to go along with a 2.76 GAA, a 0.909 SV% and nine shutouts.
