August 15, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has traded the qualified ECHL rights to defenseman Colten Hayes to the Greenville Road Warriors. This transaction serves to complete the future considerations element to the trade in which the Royals acquired the qualified ECHL rights to defenseman Adam Comrie in return for the qualified ECHL rights to defenseman Mike Montgomery and futures, which was undertaken on August 3, 2012.
Hayes, who will be entering his second year of pro, was originally acquired by the Royals (along with forwards Chris Doyle and Ian O'Connor) on March 6, 2012, from the Stockton Thunder in return for defenseman Rob Kwiet. In nine games with the Royals last season, Hayes registered two assists and twenty-one penalty minutes. Prior to being acquired by the Royals, Hayes picked up twenty-one points (3g-18a) and sixty-nine penalty minutes in thirty-nine games with Stockton.
