Colorado Eagles News Release
LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles of the ECHL, proud affiliate of the NHL's Winnipeg Jets & the AHL's St. John's IceCaps, announced today that they've re-signed forward Michael Forney for the upcoming hockey season. A former prospect in the Winnipeg system, Forney spent 56 games between the Eagles & the IceCaps last season. "Michael is one of our brightest young stars," said Eagles general manager & head coach, Chris Stewart, "and we look forward to having him on our team on a full time basis."
A 3rd Round pick (#80 overall) of the Atlanta Thrashers in 2006, Forney has played 182 games in the ECHL & 26 in the AHL during the past three seasons. Fifty three of those ECHL contests came with Colorado last season in which he was the team's 5th-leading point producer, tallying 51 points (20-31-51). Over the past two seasons, Forney has recorded nearly a point-per-game in the ECHL (117 points in 119 games).
In 2010-11, the 6-foot-2-inch, 185-pound forward led the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators in goals (21), assists (45) and points (66). His performance earned him a spot in the ECHL All-Star Game and ranked him among the league leaders in points (13th) & assists (9th) at season's end.
The 2012-13 season starts in October (a complete schedule can be found at www.ColoradoEagles.com). Tickets for all Eagles home games will go on sale September 21 and can be purchased at www.ComcastTix.com, the Budweiser Events Center box office, or by calling 1-877-544-TIXX (8499) or 970-686-SHOT (7468).
