Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals and Trenton Titans of the ECHL will meet twice during preseason play in 2004-05. Reading has a long preseason history with Trenton dating back to 2001. In the Royals inaugural campaign, the two clubs met twice. The following season Reading and Trenton again had two practice games before the regular season. Of Reading's six prior preseason match-ups, four have been played against the Trenton Titans.

Royals general manager Ray Delia said the additional preseason contests fuel this rivalry, "These preseason games will set the tone for opening weekend. Playing our biggest rival 4 times in a week should ensure a physical, exciting brand of hockey on opening night! We look forward to the intensity and atmosphere that our fans will create in the Sovereign Center for the game and the banner ceremony preceding the drop of the puck."

The Royals and Titans will meet four straight times to begin the 2004-05 season. Trenton will host Reading on Friday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m. in Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey. The Royals and Titans meet in the Sovereign Center the following night at 7:05 p.m. The Northern Division foes will meet in Trenton on Friday, October 22 and in Reading Saturday, October 23 to open the regular season.

The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals. The Royals and the city of Reading are proud to be hosting the 13th annual ECHL All-Star skills competition and game on January 25 and 26 presented by Coors Light.
