Pride re-sign Elzinga

FLORENCE, SC – The Pee Dee Pride announced today that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Adam Elzinga on a contract for the 2004-2005 season.

The 21-year-old enters his second professional season. Last season, the Burbank, IL native appeared in 59 games, posting 14 points and 35 penalty minutes. In addition, he led the team in plus/minus with a +3 rating.

Prior to joining the Pride last season, Elzinga played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Peterborough Petes. He also played two playoff games for the Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League in 2002-2003.

"Adam was a huge bright spot on our ‘D' corps last season," Pride Head Coach Perry Florio said. "He was a plus player as a rookie and he steadily improved as the season progressed. We look for him to be even better for the Pride this season."

The Pride open the 2004-2005 regular season on Friday, October 22, hosting the Roanoke Express at 7:30 p.m. The Pride continue their season-opening three-game home stand on Saturday, October 23 taking on the Greensboro Generals at 7:30 p.m., and on Tuesday, October 26 with a 7:00 p.m. match-up with the Gwinnett Gladiators.
