Victoria Royals News Release
Victoria, B.C. - The WHL and the Victoria Royals have announced the team will be pausing all team activities until further notice as a result of multiple players and staff being added to the WHL COVID-19 Protocol List due to exhibiting symptoms or having tested positive for COVID-19.
As a result, the Victoria Royals and Spokane Chiefs games scheduled for January 11th and 12th at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre have been postponed for a later date to be announced in the near future.
GM and Head Coach Dan Price reiterated that the Victoria Royals and the WHL are committed to the safety of their staff and players.
"We're keeping in touch with the players daily and working with the league on a timeline for a safe return to team activities. We're looking forward to getting back together at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre when this pause is concluded," he said.
This will be the second time the Royals and Chief games are postponed after being rescheduled in November due to COVID-19. Fans still eager to see Spokane's first visit to Victoria of the season should hold onto their tickets as they will remain valid for the rescheduled dates. However, any tickets dated for original set of games on November 12th and 13th (or January 11th and 12th) can also be exchanged for any remaining future 2021-22 regular season Royals game by contacting the Select Your Tickets box-office via email or by phone (250-220-7777).
The WHL requires all rostered players, hockey operations staff, and other team and League office personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a Health Canada approved vaccine. The Victoria Royals will continue to work within the WHL guidelines to provide a safe and healthy environment for our staff and players.
In accordance with the Western Hockey League's policy, the WHL, the Victoria Royals will not be commenting further on the situation.
For tickets to upcoming Royals games, visit the Victoria Royals ticketing page or call the Select Your Ticket box office at 250-220-7777.
The Royals are also offering two holiday ticket packages for fans this season. Buy four vouchers for $70 or six for $100 and receive a special Royals gift. This offer is valid until January 31, 2021.
