Moose Jaw Warriors News Release

The Moose Jaw Warriors have reached the midway point of the regular season.

With 18 home games in the books, Warriors director of business operations Jaret Schneider said there has been ups and downs with putting together an entertaining game night during a pandemic.

"For the most part, things have went well, we had some great events that were extremely happy with," Schneider said.

Schneider said the uncertainty around COVID-19 has made planning ahead of the season a challenge, but he feels the front office staff has found a way to put together an entertaining product each night.

"The uncertainty of what it was going to look like, if and when we were going to be able to play, and how many fans were going to be able to pack into Mosaic Place," he said. "So for the most part, the biggest challenges were just getting getting the season started and once we did, things started to fall into place."

The biggest night of the first half was Hockey Fights Cancer night on Nov. 20 when the Warriors honoured cancer survivors and people who have lost their battle with special edition jerseys and pre-game ceremony.

Over $14,000 was raised for the Saskatchewan branch of the Canadian Cancer Society.

Schneider credited Hayley Rushinko, manager of game nights and special events, for putting the night together.

"It did go really well and I hope everyone really enjoyed it as much as we did," he said.

"It's something that we could build on and this year, we took things to the next level and we'll see how we can improve on that moving forward."

Moving into the second half, the Warriors will again be faced with the uncertainty of the COVID world. Schneider said he wants to thank fans for sticking by the team through the first half.

"The biggest message is I just want to thank the fans for the support," he said. "The fans, the sponsors, the community members, everything that backs this team throughout the year, it's something that we look forward to continuing throughout the rest of the season."

There's many big games on tap during the second half as the Warriors look to push for a playoff spot, currently sitting tied for fourth in the Eastern Conference.

No night will be bigger than the annual Snowbirds Night coming up in February.

"That's something that we're really looking forward to, a lot work has been put in for that night already and some secret things that we'll keep in our back pocket," Schneider said.

"We're going through the final process of getting the jersey made right now and it's one the fans will enjoy. It's a traditional look that incorporates the Snowbirds."

For fans looking to join in on the action for the second half, there is currently a 16-game season ticket available, giving fans access to the 16 final home games, while also locking in their seat for the playoffs and next season.

"Those fans who maybe were on the fence and are now looking at it as I got to get in there, the Warriors are having a lot of fun both on and off the ice, and I want to be a part of that again," Schneider said.

Those tickets are available at mjwarriors.ca and the Mosaic Place Box Office.
