Royals Outfielder Alex Gordon to Rehab with Naturals

SPRINGDALE, Ark. - The Kansas City Royals announced today that outfielder Alex Gordon will begin a Major League Rehab Assignment with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals and is scheduled to play in his first game on Sunday, June 19.

Gordon, a four-time Rawlings Gold Glove Winner, was hitting .211 in 42 games for the Royals before being sidelined with a right scaphoid fracture on May 22 in a foul territory collision with third baseman Mike Moustakas. The 32-year old Gordon, is a 10-year Major League veteran with a career batting average of .267 to go along with 138 home runs and 533 RBI. It will mark the second time in his career that Gordon has made a rehab appearance with the Naturals, in 2009 he appeared in eight (8) games with Northwest Arkansas and hit .367 with two (2) home runs, and 10 RBI in 35 at bats. The Kansas City Royals have announced that no timetable has been set as to the length of his injury rehab assignment.

Tomorrow the Northwest Arkansas Naturals will welcome their in-state rivals, the Arkansas Travelers (Double-A Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim), to Arvest Ballpark to begin a 4-game series. The 2:05 p.m. game will feature a Father's Day Cap Giveaway by OC Sports on Kids Eat FREE Family Sunday with Mercy Kids Post-Game Catch on the Field.

The Arvest Ballpark Box Office is open now and will be throughout tonight's game and will open tomorrow at 10 a.m.
