Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals fell 5-2 to the Spokane Chiefs on Wednesday night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Milestone Contest - The Royals took part in their 500th WHL regular season game tonight. The club has earned a mark of 270-190-21-19 since they relocated to Vancouver Island in 2011, which included a 147-81-10-10 home ice record. Over their seven-year tenure, Victoria has scored a total of 1,734 goals, and have allowed 1,608 tallies.
Spectacular Special Teams - Victoria tied a pair of franchise special team records tonight. The Royals' powerplay goal, their 83rd of the season, tied the mark which was set during the 2010-11 season by the Chilliwack Bruins. Victoria also tallied their 12th shorthanded goal of the year to tie the record that was set in 2009-10 by the Bruins.
Sensational Soy - Following two goals tonight, Royals' forward Tyler Soy now has 87 points (35g-52a) in 62 games this season. This passes his previous personal best of 85 points (46g-39a) that was set over 72 contests during the 2015-16 campaign. Soy becomes the seventh player on Victoria this season to set a new career high single-season point total.
Home Cooking - Victoria will continue their homestand this weekend for a pair of games against the Prince George Cougars on Friday and Sunday. Friday's contest is WHL Suits Up with Don Cherry to Promote Organ Donation - Presented by RE/MAX, and is scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start. Sunday meanwhile, is the Guides and Scouts Game, followed by a Skate with the Players Presented by BCAA and is slated for a 2:05 p.m. start.
