Burlington Sock Puppets News Release

Burlington, N.C. - The Royals one-upped their 7-3 victory from Sunday night with an enormous 10-2 win over the Braves on Monday. Burlington has now won three consecutive games.

The Royals offense was plentiful early, with four runs in the bottom of the second to take an early 4-0 edge. Two of those came on solo homers from Jake Means and David Hollie, while the other two came on RBI doubles off the bats of Maikel Garcia and Jack Gethings. It would become 5-0 following another run in in the third before the Braves answered back.

Danville made it 5-2 after the team plated Cody Milligan in the fourth on a throwing error and scored its second run in the fifth when Brandon Parker took a pitch between the shoulder blades with the bases loaded.

However, the game was not that close for much longer. Another four-run inning in the bottom of the fifth made it 9-2 Burlington. Hollie put the icing on the cake in the seventh when he launched his second homer run of the game to extend the lead to 10-2.

Royals hurler Elliott Anderson earned his first professional win with 2.1 innings of scoreless, hitless relief. Braves starter Alec Barger took the loss after surrendering five earned runs in 2.1 innings out of the gate.

Burlington goes for a four-game sweep of Danville on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
