Kingsport, TN - The Kingsport Mets concluded a six-game home stretch in style by knocking off the Greeneville Reds 11-2 in front of a large crowd on FunFest Night at Hunter Wright Stadium Tuesday evening.
The win was Kingsport's sixth straight at home, all over the past week.
After Greeneville struck for a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Brett Baty brought Kingsport even with a lined RBI-double into the left-center gap to plate Cole Kleszcz.
Then, with the score knotted at one, the Mets were able to plate three in the fourth off an RBI-double by Gregory Guerrero and a two-run homer by Sebastian Espino.
Greeneville would claw to within two at 4-2, but Kingsport would put things away with a five-run seventh and a two-run eighth.
Scott Ota, Baty, and Cristopher Pujols each drove in runs in the seventh, and Kleszcz drove in a pair in the eighth.
Junior Santos got the start and pitched well, allowing just two hits and one run over 3.2 innings.
After Nixon Silva ended the fourth, Jefferson Escorcha earned the in out of the bullpen by throwing three innings, allowing just one unearned run.
Brandon Hardy then threw two scoreless frames to close out the game.
The Mets are back home at Hunter Wright next Tuesday to kick off a six-game home stand against the Johnson City Cardinals and Pulaski Yankees.
Tuesday morning is the annual Camp Day game, with first pitch at 11:00 AM.
