Vancouver Giants News Release

Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants lost 5-4 to the Victoria Royals at the Pacific Coliseum on Friday evening. David Brumm, Tyler Benson, Carter Popoff and Chase Lang had the Vancouver goals.

The recently recalled Brumm made his impact early in the first period when he opened the scoring for the Giants. Benson made it 2-0 for the G-Men when he potted his third of the season on a 5-on-3 powerplay, and Popoff would complete the trifecta when he scored his sixth of the season, increasing the Giants' lead to 3-0 going into the intermission.

The Royals stormed back in the second period, scoring four unanswered goals on Ryan Kubic. Victoria got goals from Matthew Phillips, Dante Hannoun, Alex Forsberg and Jack Walker. The Giants killed off a five minute major penalty that was assessed to Dmitry Osipov for checking from behind, despite allowing the four unanswered goals.

Lang scored his third of the year and first as a Giant to tie the game at 4-4 in the third period, but with six minutes left in the stanza, the Royals again went up by one when a Ryan Gagnon point shot beat Kubic.

The Giants are back in action Saturday night when they travel to Kelowna to take on the Rockets. The next home game is set for Wednesday, December 2nd when the G-Men will host the Medicine Hat Tigers at the Pacific Coliseum at 7:00pm.
