Pulaski, Va. - The Royals were nearly no-hit out in Pulaski as the Yankees squeeked out a 1-0 win on Sunday night.
Both teams were held hitless through the first five innings. However, Pulaski broke through first in the bottom of the sixth with a solo homer from Jake Pries to score the only run of the ballgame for either club.
The only Burlington hit came in the top of the ninth when Kevon Jackson led off the inning with a double to right. The Royals wound up having two runners on with two outs, but Jake Means struck out to end the game.
Yankees relief arm Reid Anderson was credited with the win for five innings of no-hit relief between the fourth and eighth innings, while righty Tyler Johnson earned the save. Adrian Alcantara took the loss for surrendering the game's only run.
With the series tied at one, both teams square off in a rubber match tomorrow in Pulaski at 6:30 p.m.
