Oklahoma City Comets News Release

TODAY: The RedHawks and Omaha continue a 4-game set with a 4:05 pm start at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark after splitting a twin bill yesterday. Despite the fact Albuquerque has not completed a game because of rain in the last two days, the RedHawks remain 2.5 games back of Albuquerque in the American South. Omaha is fourth in the American North, 13 games behind Nashville. Righthander Guillermo Moscoso makes his fourth Triple-A appearance. He came on in relief of Willie Eyre in his last outing during the 14-inning shutout and pitched 3 scoreless innings. Rehabber Sidney Ponson gets the start for Omaha.

DOUBLEHEADER SPLIT: The RedHawks and Royals split a doubleheader yesterday, with the RedHawks taking the first game 3-2 in 8 innings and the Royals winning the second 4-1. OKC has split 3 doubleheaders and swept one this season. Esteban German drove in the game-winning run in the opener as OKC won in walk-off fashion for the seventh time this season. German had 5 of the RedHawks' 11 hits in the doubleheader. Orlando Hernandez (2-0) allowed both Omaha runs in the seventh inning, but received the win when the RedHawks tied the score in the seventh and won in extra innings. Chris Hayes (1-3) took the loss. Omaha won the nightcap, as Kyle Davies (3-0) won his third straight start since being optioned and Josh Rupe (1-6) was tagged with his second straight loss. Rupe allowed 4 runs on 6 hits in 4 innings.

CHRIS DAVIS OPTIONED: Texas optioned first baseman Chris Davis to Oklahoma City after last night's game. Davis, the Rangers' Rookie of the Year in 2008 in roughly a half-season in the major leagues, was batting .202 with 15 homers and 33 RBIs in 77 games for Texas in 2009. To make room for Davis, Max Ramirez (sore left wrist) has been placed on the DL.

JOSH HAMILTON ACTIVATED: Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton's 5-game rehab stint with the RedHawks ended when Hamilton was activated by Texas after last night's game. Hamilton went 3-for-23 with OKC this past week and 4-for-27 overall during his rehab assignment that began a week ago tonight at Frisco.

HINCKLEY STREAKING: Left-handed reliever Mike Hinckley has pitched 10.1 consecutive scoreless innings over his last 5 outings.

BULLPEN UPDATE: In the previous 14 games in which it was needed, the RedHawks' bullpen has combined to pitch 56 innings while allowing 8 earned runs on 37 hits, a 1.29 ERA.

TWO-HITTER: OKC pitching limited Omaha to 2 hits in yesterday's first game, a season low in hits allowed. The previous low was 3 hits, done twice in 9-inning games and once in a 7-inning game May 30. Willie Eyre and Bryan Corey combined to throw six hitless innings before Orlando Hernandez allowed back-to-back hits to begin yesterday's seventh inning.

GERMAN LENGTHENS STREAKS: Esteban German brings a 9-game hitting streak into today's contest. During the streak, German is 15-for-36 (.417) with 7 RBIs. German also has a 21-game on-base streak, which matches the 11th-longest in the PCL this this year. OKC's All-Star representative, German is tied for seventh in the league in batting with a .321 average and is third in the PCL in on-base percentage at .431 and fourth in walks with 50.

GOOD IN THE CLOSE ONES: The RedHawks lead the league in victories in one-run games at 18-11. The closest team in that category is Sacramento at 16-7. The RedHawks are 8-3 in extra-inning games. Only Sacramento, at 10-3, has more wins in extra innings.
