Atlantic City, NJ (August 19, 2008) - Brockton broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning with two runs and proceeded to score 14 runs over the final four innings in a route of the Atlantic City Surf on Wednesday night. RHP Wayne Lundgren was the beneficiary of the ample run support and was tremendous on the mound, recording the win in the Rox 17-2 victory over Atlantic City.

Lundgren dueled early on with Surf RHP JC Huguet who struck out 11 through five innings, but left with two outs in the sixth inning after Brockton extended its lead to 6-1. Huguet was chased from the game after an RBI single by C Lee Rubin who went 3-4 with two doubles, three RBI, and three runs scored. 2B Melvin Falu had four hits in the game and also drove in three runs. 3B Eduardo Rios, LF Jud Thigpen, and OF Eugene Julien each hit home runs in the game. The Rox scored in each of the last five innings of the game.

For Rox starter Wayne Lundgren, it was his 9th victory of the season and the sixth consecutive start in which he has lasted at least seven innings. He controlled the game throughout his seven innings of work, and departed when the Rox victory was a foregone conclusion. He allowed two runs on seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

The Rox and Surf finish the three-game series on Thursday night at Bernie Robbins Stadium. RHP Mike Smith (1-0, 4.30 ERA) will face Atlantic City's LHP Brian Rodaway (9-7, 3.65 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
