Mankato, MN -- The Rox held on in the first of two games on Tuesday. Barely. Starting to show some shades of last nigh't loss in the bottom of the 9th inning. John Matthews (Kent State) slammed the door, and removed all doubt. He earned his second save of the season, and left the tying run on 2nd base.

It was another strong outing from that man. Michael Busch (North Carolina), after going 1-4 yesterday, went 2-4 with both hits doubles, and also scoring and bring in one run. Drew Avans (Southeast Louisiana) also had a solid afternoon. On his 21st birthday, went 2-3 with 2 runs scored, also hitting his first double of the summer.

The Rox only scored one run in the 1st, 4th, 6th and 7th, but it was enough to hold onto the win. Bobby Gauvreau (Minnesota State- Mankato) came in relief for starter Ryan Shreve (Pacific) in the 5th inning and gave up just one run and one walk. Gauvreau got the win, and was replaced in the 7th inning by Matthews. The freshman made just his third relief appearance and first since earning a save against La Crosse on Thursday. He ended with 3 innings, 3 hits and 1 run, but most importantly 1 save.

The Rox stay tied for 1st with the Bucks following their win over the Larks earlier today. Now, St. Cloud gets set for the latter half of the double-header with the MoonDogs before getting the day off tomorrow. First pitch for tonight's game is set for 7:05 PM.
