Bullfrogs Look to Sweep Growlers at Home
June 13, 2017 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
The Bullfrogs defeated the Growlers last night in dramatic fashion. The Bullfrogs went into the Bottom of the 9th inning down 4-5. Troy Johnston would lead off the inning with a solo home run over the center field wall, to tie things up. Aaron Pleschner, however, would come up next and pop-up for the first out and settle things down. The Frogs weren't done yet though, that's when Willie Bourbon (Northwestern) would square in and blast a walk-off home run over the right field wall for the 6-5 win.
The Bullfrogs come into the matchup against the Growlers 6-7 and the Growlers are 4-9. So far this season against Kalamazoo the Bullfrogs are 3-0, the Frogs swept them earlier this week 2-0 including a 14-inning game that the Bullfrogs would win 4-3. The Bullfrogs sit at 5th in the South Division and the Growlers are currently 9th in the South.
Troy Johnston is a player to keep your eye on in this one, as Johnston was last night's Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Player of the Night. Troy's stat line on the night: 5-5 5 H, 3 R, 1 RBI, and a HR to tie things up in the 9th. Johnston is currently batting .333 and has 12 hits on the season to go along with two home runs. Johnston is on a five-game hit streak and has eight hits in his last nine at-bats.
Another player to watch is Brad Hamilton. Hamilton currently leads the Northwoods League in batting average posting .479 on the season. Hamilton last season for the Bullfrogs posted a .197 batting average so it's been a huge turnaround for the Kent State product who has six RBIs on the season to go along with 17 hits.
Terrell McCall is on the bump tonight for the Bullfrogs. Coming into the evening McCall has posted a 6.13 ERA in two starts he has tossed eight strikeouts and has walked five. McCall just finished up his Sophomore season with Alabama State University where he was a starter for the Hornets.
The Bullfrogs will face off against the South Division leaders and the defending Northwoods League champions the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters tomorrow in Joannes Stadium. The Rapids are supporting an 11-1 record are on a 10 game winning streak.
The next home game will be on June 13th versus the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. Group and single game tickets are on sale now. For more information, call the Bullfrogs Ticket Office at 920.497.7225, or email info@greenbaybullfrogs.com or stop by the ticket office at 315 S. Baird Street, Green Bay, WI.
