Brockton Rox News Release

Pittsfield, Mass. - Thursday night's game between the Brockton Rox and the Pittsfield Colonials was suspended in the top of the ninth inning with one out due to a failure of the stadium lighting system at Wahconah Park.

The game will be resumed at the same point when Pittsfield returns to Brockton on Sunday, June 11, before the regularly-scheduled game.

Before the game was halted, Brockton SS Dominic Ramos went 3-for-4 with three RBI as the Rox pounded out 16 hits.

The Rox kicked off the scoring in the second with four consecutive RBI singles from C Chris Grossman, Ramos, CF Chris Valencia and DH Melvin Falu, but Pittsfield made it a 4-1 game in their half of the second on C Scott Knazek's run-scoring double.

Brockton added a run in the third on Ramos' RBI single before the Colonials trimmed the lead to 5-4, courtesy of RF Daniel Carte's three-run home run.

The Rox then exploded for six runs in the fourth on 3B Philip Cuadrado's RBI single, 1B Clyde Williams' three-run home run, Mike Conroy coming home on an error, and Ramos' RBI triple, increasing their lead to 11-4.

Pittsfield chipped away at the Brockton lead to make it 11-7, but the Rox added a pair of runs with a solo home run by Cuadrado in the seventh and another solo shot by 2B Scott Wearne in the eighth.

Brockton starter Mike Smith had a rare difficult outing, allowing six runs on eight hits in five innings of work, fanning three.
