The 2-3-4 hitters of the Sussex Skyhawks lead the way in the 10-7 win over the Quebec Capitales in the completion of the suspended game from yesterday. SS Chase Fontaine, CF Carl Loadenthal and DH Caleb Stewart combined to go 7-for-14 at the plate with two doubles, three runs scored and two RBI. Sussex 16, Quebec 3 (Regularly scheduled game)
Sussex scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to go up 3-0 and did not stop there. The Skyhawks offense pounded the ball, racking up 18 hits en route to an easy 16-3 win. Every Sussex starter had at least one hit and all but two had at least one RBI, including DH Caleb Stewart, who drove in four and was 4-for-6 with a double. Skyhawks starting pitcher Dan Berlind was the beneficiary of the run support. He allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out a pair in six innings to earn his first win of the year.
Brockton 13, Pittsfield 9 (Bottom 8)
The game between Brockton and Pittsfield was still in progress with the Rox leading the Colonials, 13-9, in the bottom of the eighth inning. For complete game information, visit www.canamleague.com.
Worcester 11, New Jersey 9
Leading 8-2 after five innings, it looked as if New Jersey would cruise to an easy win over Worcester. But the Tornadoes outscored the Jackals 9-1 from the sixth inning on and stole a win on the road. Worcester RF Danny Santiesteban led the way at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs, a double, three runs scored and four RBI. Tornadoes 2B Mark Minicozzi also had a good game offensively, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI. Worcester starting pitcher Chris Farley allowed eight runs on 10 hits in 6.2 innings, but Worcester's offensive production helped him to his third win.
