Sussex Skyhawks News Release
During a long Wednesday at CenturyLink Field at Skylands Park, the Sussex Skyhawks (12-11) won twice and completed a three-game sweep of the first-place Capitales de Quebec (18-7). Sussex finished off a 10-7 win in the completion of Tuesday's suspended game in the late afternoon and topped it with a 16-3 blowout victory in the nightcap. RHP Donald Jordat won the suspended game while Duaner Sanchez recorded his eighth save of the season; RHP Dan Berlind earned his first win of the year in the originally scheduled game, throwing six innings of three-run baseball while allowing seven hits and two walks. DH Caleb Stewart led the Sussex offense with a 4-for-6, four-RBI performance at the plate, and CF Carl Loadenthal and 3B Nick Giarraputo each added three RBI of their own in the series finale.
The Skyhawks now take to the road to play nine games in as many days. The team will play two in Worcester tomorrow against the Tornadoes when they complete a suspended game from earlier this month before playing their regularly scheduled game. After an off-day on Monday, the 'Hawks will return to New Jersey for a four game set at Yogi Berra Stadium against the Jackals. Saturday, July 3 marks the Skyhawks' return to CenturyLink Field at Skylands Park. That night, Sussex will take on the visiting Brockton Rox at 6:35 p.m. Free Udder Cream samples will be available to all fans in attendance, and fireworks will follow the conclusion of the game.
