
Rox fall to Spirit, 10-6

BROCKTON â The Rox had their three-game win streak snapped Monday night by the North Shore Spirit, 10-6, at Campanelli Stadium, in a contest between the Northeast League's top teams.
The Spirit got on the board early, touching up Rox starter Kevin Lynn (1-1) for four runs in the first inning and another in the second.
In the first, Marcos Agramonte and Nilson Teilon reached on infield singles and scored on Frank Charles's double to center field. Rob Fischer reached on another infield single and went to second when Travis Oglesby walked. Brian Macchi's single to left scored Fischer and Oglesby, to put the Spirit up, 4-0.
The Rox got a run back in the bottom of the inning on Abner Arroyo's (2-for-4, 2 RBI) solo home run, his third homer of the season.
After the Spirit added single runs in the second and fifth, the Rox got three more in their half of the fifth, to pull within two, 6-4. With Saul Bustos (3-for-4) on second after a double to center, and Kris Zacuto on first after being hit in the shoulder, Mike Torres (2-for-4, 3 RBI) hit his second home run of the season.
The Spirit padded their lead with three unearned runs in the seventh. With Matt Bennett, who started the inning in relief of Lynn, on the mound, Vic Davilla doubled to right, went to third on Charles's ground out, and scored when Joe Hastings fly ball to left dropped in for an error. Oglesby hit his third home run of the season, scoring Charles. North Shore added another run in the eighth, raising their lead, 10-4.
The Rox got two back in the bottom of the ninth on Nestor Smith's second home run of the season â and second in as many days â scoring Mike Torres, who reached on a single to center.
The Rox (13-5) take on the Spirit (12-5) again Tuesday at 7:11 p.m. at Campanelli. Tickets are available.
The Brockton Rox, 2003 champions of the independent Northeast League, have added six additional dates and seven additional games at Campanelli Stadium to their schedule.
