Rox Fall to Mankato Monday, 11-4

St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox were back in the comforts of Joe Faber Field Monday night as they hosted the Mankato MoonDogs in game one of a two game series. The Rox fell to the MoonDogs by a final score of 11-4.

The Rox took an early lead over the Mankato MoonDogs in the bottom of the first inning. With two outs on the board it was Adam Martin (Jr., Western Carolina University) hitting a triple and was brought home by Blake Headley (So., University of Nebraska) as he hit a single to take a 1-0 lead.

St. Cloud would extend their lead 2-0 in the bottom of the third on a lead off solo home run by Charlie Morgan (Jr., Wake Forest University). Chris Paul (So., University of California) would get a single and advance to second as Clay Williamson (So., Cal State Fullerton) hit a single but then was putout at third for out number two. Williamson would get caught stealing to end the inning for the Rox with a 2-0 lead over Mankato.

Mankato would take a 4-2 lead over the Rox in the top of the fourth with two runners on base the MoonDogs would score one run off a ground out to short and then tie the game up 2-2 off a single. Another single with a Rox error would score two more runs taking the lead.

In the top of the sixth the MoonDogs would earn two more runs extending their lead 6-2 off a single for one and a double for another run.

The Rox would make a rally in the bottom of the sixth as Williamson hit a double with one out on the board. Tim Colwell (Jr., North Dakota State University) came in to pinch run for Williamson and was followed with a home run by Martin scoring two runs making it a 6-4 game.

The MoonDogs would continue to swing the bats scoring three runs in the top of the seventh and another two in the top of the ninth to defeat the Rox by a final score of 11-4.

On the mound for the Rox was Michael Healey (So., University of Connecticut) earning the start pitching 4.0 innings and posting his first loss of the season. Kasey Ralston (Fr., Indiana University) relieved Healey pitching 1.2 innings followed by Bryce Jackson (So., Washington State University) for his first appearance with the Rox and 2.1 innings of work. Kyle Murray (Fr., Cal State Fullerton) finished for the Rox on the mound pitching the ninth inning.

Your St. Cloud Times Rox' player of the game tonight goes to Adam Martin. Martin had a good game for the Rox as he went 3-for-4 including two runs, one double, a triple, and a two run home run.

The St. Cloud Rox (9-12, 9-12 North) and the Mankato MoonDogs (10-10, 10-10 North) will be back in action Wednesday for game their final game in this series at Faber Field. Game time is set for 1:05 p.m. with the gates opening one hour prior to the start.

Wednesday at the ballpark is Youth Day presented by the Boys and Girls Club of Central Minnesota. It is also "College ID Night!" presented by 104.7 KCLD and WILD Country 99.
