Battle Creek, Mich. - Luke Staub (W, 1-2) tossed 7.2 innings of five hit, one run baseball Tuesday night as the Battle Creek Bombers (10-10) fell to the Madison Mallards (12-7) 3-1.

Mike Fitzgerald homered for the second consecutive night in Battle Creek, this time off Bomber reliever Todd Eaton (L, 1-2). Eaton allowed the go ahead RBI-single to John LaPrise in the seventh inning after Jason Goldstein's leadoff triple.

Battle Creek got their run in the third inning after a Tommy Mirabelli double. He would come around to score on a wild pitch by Staub with two outs. The Bombers managed just four baserunners from the fourth inning on, and were shut down 1-2-3 in the ninth by Hunter May (S, 6).

Battle Creek attempts to bounce back as they visit Lakeshore for the second time this week. First pitch in Wisconsin is set for 7:35 ET.
