Brockton Rox News Release

Quebec leftfielder Buck McNabb added to his Rox-killing resume with a homer and five runs batted in as his Capitales (13-8) cruised to an 8-2 matinee win over the Brockton Rox (17-6) at Le Stade Municipal.

A full one-third of McNabb's 39 RBI in 2005 have come in the eight games Quebec has played Brockton. Each of the leftfielder's four home runs has been hit against Rox pitching.

The game started at 11:35 am, but Quebec's offense was wide-awake and raring to go. The first five hitters to face Rox starter Jon Koch all reached base. The last of these was McNabb, whose sharp bases loaded single brought home the Capitales' first two runs.

The lead was 5-0 before a Kris Zacuto solo home run in the fourth put the visitors on the scoreboard.

An RBI single by Rox third baseman Jake Daubert in the next frame cut the deficit to 5-2. It was the second hit of the game for Daubert, who extended his league-record hitting streak to 27 consecutive games.

In case Brockton had any thoughts of a comeback, there was Buck McNabb lacing a three-run roundtripper in the sixth off reliever Tony Stutz to dispell any doubt in the game's outcome.

Koch (4-5) lasted just one inning plus three batters to shoulder the loss, surrendering five runs on six hits and three walks. Quebec starter Danny Prata (4-0) went six strong innings, allowing two runs on six hits. Jason Benson pitched the last three innings to pick up his second save.

The rubber match in the three-game series will be held at 7:05 on Thursday, matching Rox southpaw Kevin Beavers with Capitales righthander Marcos Castillo, who started the season in the Brockton rotation.
