New Haven County Cutters News Release

The New Haven County Cutters enter another phase of their push for a playoff spot when they return home to historic Yale Field for a pair of three-game series beginning on Friday at 7:05. With 13 of their final 22 games at home and five consecutive series wins or splits, the Cutters, who held a three game lead in the Can-Am League South Division heading into Wednesday night's contests, hope to stay in the driver's seat in the chase for the postseason.

After completing roadtrip to Brockton and North Shore with a record of 4-3, the Cutters will play host to the Elmira Pioneers for the first of three games. After Friday's game, fans will be treated to a fireworks display, the third of four this season. Before the show, there will be a different type of fireworks taking place on the field. Manager Mike Church will pitch to the final two contestants in the Cutters Home Run Derby. The preliminary round was held earlier in the summer.

Saturday at 7:05, the Cutters will celebrate one of the great traditions of fall that generally comes after the baseball season, when they host a tribute to Halloween. Fans are encouraged to come to the game in full costume, as there will be trick or treating in the stadium previous to the game as well as a costume contest.

The series against Elmira wraps on Sunday at 2:05 with a special giveaway. A table will be set up at Yale Field where kids 14 and under can go during the game to receive an ID Kit compliments of the United Shoreline Credit Union. Pictures will be taken at the table to insert into the kit. This special promotion is in addition the regular Kid's Eat Free Sundays.

The final act of the North Shore Spirit and the Cutters season series opens on Tuesday at 7:05. It's Irish Night at the ballpark on Wednesday. Traditional Irish cuisine, corned beef and cabbage, will be available along with specials on Guinness beer. Thursday brings with it not only $1 beers (Thirsty Thursday) but also a chance to meet that special someone as the Cutters host Singles Night. Single men and women can participate in speed dating that will take place during the game.

This six-game homestand will be the final time the Cutters play back-to-back home sets this season. The remaining home series are August 23-25 and September 2-5 against Brockton and Worcester, respectively.
