Rox end losing streak with 10-5 victory over North Shore

LYNN, MA- DH Guye Senjem homered and drove in four runs as the Rox snapped a season-long five-game losing streak in a 10-5 win over North Shore at Fraser Field in Lynn, MA. RHP John Kelly improved to 4-0 with the Rox with the win, his sixth overall win in the 2006 season. Kelly has allowed just three earned runs in 31.0 IP for Brockton, and fired six shutout innings on the hill against his former team in the win. CF Simon Williams's first hit in a Rox uniform, a three-run HR in the second, gave the Rox a big cushion early, and LF/SS Eugene Julien had four hits and two RBI for the Rox.

The Rox head to the All-Star break with a 25-24 overall record, 1-2 in the second half of play.

The Rox started their barrage in the second. Julien extended his hitting streak to six games with an RBI single to left, driving home C Jason Radwan to make it 1-0 Brockton. On the next pitch,Willaims delivered his first Rox base hit, a three-run HR over the left field wall and the Rox led 4-0. One inning later, Senjem hit a tape- measure longball over the right field wall to increase the Rox lead to 6-0. For Senjem, the HR was his team leading sixth of the season. The Rox plated three more runs in the fourth inning. Against reliver RH Shaun McNamara, Senjem drove home his third and fourth runs of the game with a seeing-eye single to right, plating 2B David Keese and RF Joe Hough. The Rox scored one further run on a balk to extend the lead to 9-0.

North Shore plated two in the seventh and three runs in the eighth against the Rox bullpen, but the Rox held on to win going away 10-5 in the series finale. Off until Thursday, the Rox return home on Thursday evening to take on the Nashua Pride at Campanelli Stadium at 7:05 PM. RHP Brad Guy takes the hill for Brockton.
