
Jackals swept away in New Haven

Little Falls, NJ The New Jersey Jackals fell to the cellar of the Can-Am League. A 7-0 defeat at the hands of the New Haven County Cutters completed the sweep, and sent the Jackals to a dismal 0-3 start in the second half.
The Cutters hit the scoreboard first in the second inning. Doug Vroman's RBI single scored Horace Lawrence, and the Cutters had an early lead. Chris Gaskin's RBI double, two innings later, extended the lead to 2-0.
New Haven broke the game open in the sixth inning. They scored three, all thanks to D.J. Bailey. Bailey pushed in two with a triple, and scored on a wild pitch. After six innings, the Cutters led 5-0.
The domination by the Cutters continued in the seventh. RBI singles by Vroman and Bailey made it 7-0.
Rolando Valles tossed five phenomenal innings for the Cutters. He was the winner, allowing no runs, on three hits, while striking out two.
The loss went to Aaron Myers. He battled through 6.1 innings, but was ineffective. He allowed six runs, all earned, on nine hits. He walked two and struck out three.
