Brockton Rox News Release

BROCKTON - The Brockton Rox sent 14 batters to the plate in the first inning, scoring eight runs and never looking back in a 14-2 beating of the Elmira Pioneers, Tuesday night.

The Rox (14-2) knocked Elmira starter Buddy Bengel from the game before he could get out of the first inning. The Pioneers right-hander surrendered eight runs on six hits in his shortest start of the season - two-thirds of an inning. Only five of the runs against him were earned.

Every Rox starter scored at least one run and third baseman Jake Daubert extended his franchise record hitting streak to 20 games with a 3-for-5 effort. Brockton took advantage of three Elmira errors in the game.

Kevin Beavers (4-3) pitched eight innings to earn the win. He scattered eight hits and two walks in allowing two runs.

Elmira (5-11) has now lost 24 consecutive road games, dating back to the first half of the season. The two teams wrap up the series at 12:05 p.m. on Wednesday.
