
Rox Break Northwoods League Record for Wins in a Half with Seventh Straight Win

St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox locked up the number one seed in the North Division Saturday night as they defeated the Kenosha Kingfish 2-0. The seventh straight win for St. Cloud also set a Northwoods League record with 29.
Domenick Carlini started on the mound for St. Cloud and tossed 6.1 innings. He struck out five batters while scattering only four hits. With the win tonight Carlini improves his record to 5-2. In 57.0 innings pitched this season, Carlini has struck out 44 batters and is the owner of a 2.68 ERA.
Erik Martinez (Cal-Berkeley) relieved Carlini in the seventh inning and went 1.2 innings where he struck out one batter and did not allow a hit. Martinez has now struck out 35 batters this season and lowered his ERA to 1.82.
Charpie would close out the game on the mound when he pitched 1.0 inning, striking out one batter and recording his 11th save of the season. He is now tied for fourth most saves in the league. Charpie has struck out 42 batters this season and owns an ERA of 0.67.
The Rox scored their two runs in the fifth inning when they capitalized on two Kenosha defensive mistakes. The first run was scored by Jake Farr (Tennessee Tech) on an error by the Kenosha shortstop that came off the bat of Connor Crane (McNeese State).
The second run would score when the Kenosha defense had Crane trapped on the bases on a pick off move. Crane would run out of the pick off and safely return to first base while Brett Pope (Western Carolina University) would score with the defense focused on Crane.
With the win, the Rox will host the number four-seeded Rochester Honker at 7:05 p.m. on Monday, August 10th at the Rock Pile in St. Cloud.
The Rox are now 29-8 in the second half and 48-23 overall. St. Cloud is tied with Kenosha for the best record overall in the Northwoods League. The winner of tomorrow night's game will hold home field advantage through out the playoffs.
Tomorrow night the Rox will host the finale of the regular season as they take on the Kenosha Kingfish at 7:05 p.m. at the Rock Pile. Gates will open for fans at 6:05 p.m. Tomorrow will be Fan Appreciation Night, there will be numerous giveaways and the final extravagant fireworks presented by Texas Roadhouse.
