Flying High: Home Runs Carry Stingers to Fourth Straight Win

Willmar, Minn. - A sleeping giant has awoken in the last two days, and it's not the Stingers' mascot Barry.
Willmar's offense erupted for the second straight night with three more home runs Saturday against Waterloo, helping the Stingers overcome an early 3-0 deficit in a 7-5 win over the Bucks at Bill Taunton Stadium.
Waterloo (31-40, 13-22 second half) had two home runs in the first inning to get out to the early lead, but the offense was was waiting in the wings. Willmar (46-24, 23-13) started their 13-hit attack during the night by getting a run back in the bottom of the first inning to cut the deficit to two. Ky Parrott drove in the first of his three runs with a single to plate Sean Beesley to make it 3-1.
The Stingers then evenly spaced out the power display and scored runs in all but three of their innings at the plate. Catcher Troy Dixon tied the score in the third with his third big fly of the year, a two-run shot to right-center. Two innings later, Parrott came back for more. Parrott mashed his fourth home run of the year with Reagan Fowler aboard to make it 5-3 in the Stingers' favor.
Starter Colton Boucher settled down after the tough start to his night, and he combined with the bullpen to shut down the Bucks the rest of the way. Boucher didn't allow any more runs in his five total innings of work. In his return to the Beehive after a month off, Will Lydon pitched a perfect sixth, and Kiko Garcia threw a scoreless seventh.
Waterloo got a pair back in the eighth, but Brady Anderson came in to slam the door and leave the bases loaded in the inning, and then threw a perfect ninth for his 19th save of the summer. Sean Beesley went deep in the bottom of the eighth for his second homer in as many days.
Willmar closes out the 2015 regular season Sunday with Fan Appreciation Night at the Beehive, a 7:05 first pitch against the Bucks.
