Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

Down 9-1 in the third inning, the Grand Junction Rockies battled back Friday night at Suplizio Field, but came up a little short in an 11-9 loss to the Ogden Raptors.

With the Rockies down 6-0 in the second, Grant Lavigne hit his fourth home run of the season to get on the board, but in the third, the Raptors padded their lead when Drew Avans and Gersel Pitre hit solo shots, and Daniel Robinson's sacrifice fly made it a 9-1 game, but in the bottom of the inning, the Rockies comeback began.

Niko Decolati worked a bases loaded walk, and Lavigne followed with a 2-run single to make it 9-4, and Franklin Garcia capped a 6-run inning with a 3-run homer to make it a 2-run game.

In the fifth inning, the game got even tighter. Coco Montes led off with a triple to extend his hitting streak to 18 games and Lavigne brought him in with a ground out. In the eighth inning with the Raptors still leading 9-8, Decolati singled, stole second and advanced to third with nobody out, but Lavigne and Reese Berberet struck out, and Garcia grounded out to end the threat, and Ogden scored twice in the ninth to make it a three run game.

Zach Hall started the bottom of the ninth with a home run, but Stephen Kolek retired the next three Rockies to end the game.

Lavigne finished with two hits and four RBI, while Garcia added a two hit game.

Eris Filpo took the loss for the Rockies after allowing nine runs, seven earned in 2.1 innings, but Moises Ceja, Rayne Supple, and Aneudy Duarte kept Ogden off the board until the ninth.

The loss drops the Rockies to 9-13 on the season. They are 1-5 against the Raptors.

Jacob Amaya had four hits for Ogden as the Raptors improve to 15-7.
