GJ Holds on for 5-4 Win over Ogden

Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

In the first game of his professional career, Hunter Stovall homered in his first two at bats, helping the Grand Junction Rockies to a 5-4 win over the Ogden Raptors.

Stovall went deep over the left field wall after Will Golsan started the bottom of the first with his first triple of the season, and after Niko Hulsizer doubled home a run in the second, Stovall followed Golsan's leadoff single in the third with another home run over the left field wall. The Rockies 21st round pick out of Mississippi State finished with three hits, as did Golsan.

The Rockies weren't done in the third inning as Niko Decolati walked, stole second and third, then scored on Grant Lavigne's RBI single.

All that offense was in support of Wander Cabrera who earned his first win after allowing just one run over six innings. Jake Bird and Reagan Todd kept Ogden off the board over the next two frames, but the Raptors rallied in the ninth as the first three batters singled off Will Tribucher, which made way for Alexander Martinez. He allowed two inherited runners to score to bring the Rockies lead down to one, and after he walked Daniel Robinson, the Raptors had runners at first and second, but Jeremy Arocho grounded into a fielder's choice to end the game, giving Martinez his sixth save of the season.

The win improves the Rockies to 10-13 on the season and it ends a six game home losing skid.

Coco Montes finished 0-for-4, ending his hitting streak at 18 games.
