Iowa Cubs News Release

The Round Rock Express took advantage of three Iowa errors, a nine-run seventh inning and nine walks to defeat the Cubs 15-8 Saturday night at Principal Park.

Iowa posted four runs in the first inning as the first four batters reached base safely, while the Express launched three solo homers in three innings, to bring the score to 4-3. Iowa's Andres Torres homered for the second time this year to give the Cubs a 7-3 lead in the fifth inning. However, Round Rock batted around in the 31-minute top of the seventh inning as Iowa used three pitchers.

After Round Rock extended the lead to 16-8 in the eighth inning, Iowa was forced to use infielder Luis Figueroa as a pitcher for the last 1.2 innings of the game. Seven of the nine Round Rock batters that walked came around to score.

Round Rock's Jared Gothreaux picked up the win in his first outing of the year while Iowa's Geoff Jones took the loss.
