Round Rock Hits Three Homers in 12-3 Win Thursday

The Round Rock Express hit three home runs in their 12-3 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Thursday night at Dell Diamond. The Express have won the last two games after the Chihuahuas won the series opener.

El Paso trailed 4-0 in the top of the fifth inning when shortstop Clay Dungan hit a three-run double off the left field fence. It got the Chihuahuas within one, but Round Rock scored eight unanswered runs in the second half of the game. Dungan also had a single and a walk and has reached base three times each in the last two games. Eduarniel Núnez pitched a scoreless 1.1 innings in his first game with the Chihuahuas after being promoted from Double-A San Antonio.

Round Rock's Cody Freeman hit a grand slam in the Express' five-run eighth inning. It was Round Rock's first grand slam this season and the third allowed by the Chihuahuas. Nine-time MLB All-Star and former San Diego Padre Craig Kimbrel pitched a scoreless sixth inning in his first appearance with Round Rock.
