TONIGHT'S GAMES
Round Rock continues its final road trip Friday with the middle game of a five-game series against the Memphis Redbirds (St. Louis Cardinals). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT at AutoZone Park. This is the last of four series between Round Rock and Memphis. The Express (55-78) are 5-5 in their last 10 games but have lost five of their last six. The Redbirds (74-59) are 7-3 in their last 10 games and have won three straight, including victories of 3-1 and 1-0 in the first two games of this series. Round Rock is 20-45 on the road, winning only two of 16 road series. Memphis is 42-25 at home, the best home record in the Pacific Coast League. The Express enter Friday's game fourth in the PCL American Southern Division, 16 games behind division-leader Oklahoma City. The Redbirds are second in the PCL American Northern Division, one-and-a-half games behind division-leader Iowa and one game ahead of third-place Omaha.

Memphis leads the season series 9-4, winning all five meetings at AutoZone Park. The teams split both series at The Dell Diamond. Nine of the 13 games have been decided by three or fewer runs, including six one-run games of which Memphis won five. Each team has scored 10-plus runs once - Memphis in a 12-4 victory May 10 and Round Rock in an 11-6 victory July 5; both games were at The Dell Diamond. The winning team has scored six runs or fewer in nine of the 13 meetings and three runs or fewer four times.

SOLID STARTS
Express starters own a 3.15 ERA (30 earned runs, 85.2 innings) over the last 14 games, allowing no runs six times. Round Rock starters enjoyed a streak of 21.0 consecutive scoreless innings during that time and have allowed 14 earned runs over their last 64.1 innings (1.96 ERA). Express starters are 4-2 since Aug. 11.
FRIDAY FIREWORKS FALLING FLAT
The Express are 4-16 this season on Friday, including a 1-9 mark on the road; the lone road win came last Friday at Portland. Round Rock's only other Friday victories were June 4 against Iowa (6-4), June 25 against Albuquerque (9-3) and Aug. 6 against Fresno (3-0). The Express have lost six of their last eight Friday games.
RUNS AT A PREMIUM
Thursday's 1-0 loss at Memphis marked the 14th consecutive game in which Round Rock has scored no more than six runs. Moreover, neither team has scored more six runs in the last nine Express games, nor more than four runs in seven of the last nine. In fact, the Express have scored more than four runs only three times in the last 13 games. The last time the Express scored more than six runs in a game was Aug. 11 against Sacramento when they posted the highest-scoring inning in franchise history with a nine-run first inning only to lose 13-11.
LOCKE NAMED PCL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Drew Locke was named PCL Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Locke hit .500 (11-for-22) in games Aug. 16-22; he also had two home runs, seven RBI, five doubles and a stolen base. Locke drew eight walks against only one strikeout in the seven games and scored at least one run in each game. He is the second Express player so honored this season, joining Chris Johnson (May 24).
ONE-RUN RUN-AROUND
Thursday's 1-0 loss at Memphis was Round Rock's 30th one-run loss this season, most in the PCL. In fact, the Express have lost more one-run games than Las Vegas has played (23). In all, Round Rock has played 44 one-run games, second in the league behind only Portland (45).
BOGUSEVIC WALKS TO EXPRESS RECORD
Brian Bogusevic has 66 walks this season, an Express Triple-A record (since 2005). Brooks Conrad previously held the record, walking 63 times in 2007. Bogusevic has not gone consecutive games without a walk since July 29-30 and has 20 walks in his last 20 games. He has reached safely in 38 of his last 92 plated appearances for a .413 on base percentage. In fact, Bogusevic's current .372 on base percentage would rank second in Express history. ... Elsewhere, Bogusevic ranks second on Round Rock's Triple-A single-season records chart in runs scored (91), 11th in doubles (26), 11th in total bases (207), fifth in stolen bases (23) and second in stolen base percentage (.958).
LOCKE ALSO CLIMBS CHARTS
Drew Locke also is climbing several Express single-season statistical charts (Triple-A era). Through games of Aug. 26, Locke is tied for third in doubles (35), seventh in extra-base hits (56), seventh in total bases (221) and seventh in RBI (73).
EXTRA, EXTRA, EXTRA
Round Rock has played 15 extra-inning games, tied for second most in the PCL this season. The Express are 5-10 in those games but 3-3 on the road. Round Rock has played six games of at least 12 innings and three 14-inning affairs. In fact, the Express have played 36 extra innings, the equivalent of four games.
TEAM QUICK NOTES
Round Rock is 11-14 in August with five games remaining. The Express have posted a winning record in only one month, going 17-13 in May. ... The Express are 34-43 following a loss, including a 13-29 mark on the road. Round Rock is 16-26 following consecutive losses. ... Express in PCL statistical rankings: 15th in batting (.263), ninth in pitching (4.55), tied for fourth in fielding (.979).
PLAYER QUICK NOTES
- Edwin Bellorin is hitting .111 (3-for-27) over his last eight games.
- Brian Bogusevic has only seven RBI in his last 30 games and is 1-for-20 (.050) over the last six games. Bogusevic is tied for the PCL lead with 91 runs scored and leads all PCL left-handed batters with 138 hits. He had six stolen bases in his first 90 games but has swiped 17 bags in his last 44 games (since July 3).
- Roy Corcoran has held opposing batters to a .209 average (14-for-67) with 10 strikeouts against two walks in his last 14 outings, during which time he is 1-0 with four saves and a 0.95 ERA. He also has a 9-0 strikeout-walk ratio in his last five outings.
- Collin DeLome is hitting .131 (8-for-61) over his last 15 games; six of the eight hits were extra-base knocks. DeLome has struck out at least once in 27 of his last 34 games (55 strikeouts) and in 13 of 15 (28 strikeouts). He has not recorded a multiple-hit game since Aug. 9. DeLome is tied with six others for sixth on the Express single-season triples chart.
- German Duran is hitting .150 (3-for-20) over his last eight games, going hitless six times.
- Brian Esposito is hitless in each of his last four games. It is his longest slump of the season and his first consecutive hitless games since a three-game skid July 1-4.
- Matt Kata is hitless in his last six games, going 0-for-20 in that time.
- Drew Locke is hitting .368 (25-for-68) over his last 18 games and .378 (17-for-45) in his last 13 games. However, he is 2-for-13 (.154) over the last four games. Locke is tied for third in the PCL with 35 doubles.
- Edwin Maysonet has struck out at least once in 12 of his last 13 games with 17 strikeouts in that time. He also has struck out at least once in 10 consecutive games (14 strikeouts) and exactly once in seven straight.
- Oswaldo Navarro has hit safely in five of his last six games (.333, 8-for-24).
- Chris Shelton has 21 strikeouts in his last 18 games with at least one strikeout in 13 of those outings. He is hitting .086 (3-for-35) in his last 12 games and has struck out in eight of his last 15 at bats.
- J.B. Shuck has hit safely in 19 of 25 games with the Express with eight multiple-hit outings. He has reached safely in 21 of 24 starts, including 12 straight.
NEXT SERIES
Round Rock concludes its final road trip with a four-game series at Omaha. The series runs Monday through Thursday of next week with a 7:05 p.m. CDT first pitch each evening. Omaha has won eight of 12 meetings this season, including three of four at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium.
