TONIGHT'S GAMES

Round Rock continues its fourth road trip of the season Saturday with the second game of a four-game series against the Omaha Royals (Kansas City). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT at historic Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium. This is the lone stop on the road trip. This also is the second of four series between Round Rock and Omaha this season. The Royals have won three of the first five meetings this season, spltting a series at Round Rock last month and winning Friday night's 14-inning game 6-5. All five meetings this season have been decided by three or fewer runs, including three one-run games and three extra-inning games. Round Rock is 5-5 in its last 10 games, while Omaha is 8-2; the Royals are riding a six-game winning streak, the longest active streak in the PCL. The Express are 9-15 on the road this season, while the Royals are 13-14 at home. Round Rock is four in the PCL American Southern Division, 4.5 games behind division leader Oklahoma City. Omaha is second in the PCL American Northern Division, 1.5 games behind division leader Nashville.

SEVERAL MOVES IMPACT ROUND ROCK ROSTER

Southpaws Gustavo Chacin and Wesley Wright were recalled by the Houston Astros earlier this week. This is Chacin's second stint with the Astros after a brief, five-day stay in Round Rock. Wright, who made 71 relief appearances for the Astros last season, makes his first appearance on the Houston roster this season. ... Right-handed pitcher Shane Loux rejoined the Express after a lengthy stay on the disabled list Friday. Loux started Round Rock's fourth game of the season April 11 at New Orleans before going on the disabled list. ... Infielder Drew Meyer, who exited the disabled list earlier this week, returned to the 15-day DL Saturday. Filling Meyer's place on the roster, infielder Oswaldo Navarro returned to Round Rock from Houston Saturday. Navarro hit .312 (24-for-77) in 20 games with the Express earlier this season.

TEAM QUICK NOTES

Round Rock is 3-0-3 in its last six series after starting the season 0-5-1. ... Friday's loss snapped a four-game winning streak in series openers. The Express are 8-5 in series openers this season. ... Round Rock has posted an inning of four-plus runs in nine of its last 13. The Express are 11-4 this season when scoring at least four runs in an inning. Conversely, Round Rock is 1-7 when allowing an inning of four-plus runs. ... The Express have tallied at least 10 hits in 15 consecutive games and in 16 of the last 17. Round Rock had 12 games of 10-plus hits in the season's first 31 games prior to this 17-game stretch. ... Round Rock has homered in five consecutive games, its longest such streak this season, and in 12 of the last 16 games, going 8-4 in those 12 games. The Express had at least one home run in each game of the Las Vegas series, the first time they have accomplished that feat this season. ... Round Rock suffered its largest margin of defeat May 10 in the Memphis series finale (12-4). Since then, the Express are 10-7 with 134 runs scored (7.9 runs per game). That is Round Rock's most prolific scoring stretch since joining Triple-A in 2005. In fact, no Express team had scored as many as 100 runs in any 17-game period during the Triple-A era before this run. ... The Express are hitting .308 and averaging 6.8 runs per game in May after hitting .244 with 3.5 runs per game last month. Round Rock has 28 home runs in May with a .473 team slugging percentage after hitting only 10 home runs in April. ... Despite being four games below .500, Round Rock has out-scored its opponents 256-221 on the season. ... The Express are 20-7 when scoring at least five runs and 2-19 when scoring fewer than five runs. Conversely, Round Rock is 18-8 when holding its opponent below five runs and 4-18 when allowing at least five runs. ... Round Rock is 20-2 when leading after eight innings, including a 10-1 mark at home. Meanwhile, the Express are 0-20 when trailing after seven innings and 0-18 when trailing after eight innings. ... The Express are hitting .327 (107-for-327) with runners in scoring position over the last 28 games. ... Of Round Rock's 26 losses, 21 have been by three runs or fewer, including a PCL-high 14 one-run losses. ... Express in the PCL statistical rankings: third in batting (.282), 10th in pitching (4.25) and 11th in fielding (.978).

PLAYER QUICK NOTES

Josh Banks is tied for third in the PCL with five wins and leads the league with 63.0 innings pitched. He is tied with two others for the most wins in the PCL this month (4), and Banks' 4-0 mark in May is the league's best. He owns a 1.80 ERA through the fifth inning that balloons to 7.62 after the fifth. Banks is 5-1 at home and 0-2 on the road. He has allowed three or fewer earned runs in nine of 10 starts, including each of the last six. ... Brian Bogusevic snapped a six-game hitting streak (.400, 10-for-25) going 0-for-6 Friday; it was his longest streak of the season with multiple hits in each of the streak's final three games. He is tied for the PCL lead with 37 runs scored. ... Jason Bourgeois' leadoff home run Friday at Omaha was Round Rock's first this season. He has hit safely in 16 of the last 17 games; he is hitting .468 (37-for-79) in that time with 11 multiple-hit games and seven games of three-plus hits. Bourgeois has multiple hits in each of the last six games, the longest such streak by an Express player this season; he also has multiple hits in seven of the last eight games. He has at least one extra-base hit in six straight games, also the longest such streak by an Express player this season. His current 12-game hitting streak in road games ranks second this season in the PCL and is the league's longest active streak; he is hitting .404 (23-for-57) during the streak. Bourgeois ranks third in the PCL in batting average (.370), tied for second in hits (64), fifth in on-base percentage (.426) and fourth in stolen bases (14). ... Jason Castro is riding a 10-game hitting streak that is his longest of the season and tied for the second-longest by an Express player this season. He is hitting .341 (14-for-41) during the streak. Castro's current streak is one game removed from a seven-game streak, giving him hits in 17 of the last 18 games; he is hitting .338 (24-for-71) in that time. He has reached safely in 36 of 39 games played this season, including 19 straight. His on-base streak is tied for the sixth-longest in the PCL this season, second among active streaks. ... Casey Daigle's blown save Wednesday night snapped a streak of six consecutive opportunities converted. He also allowed an earned run for the first time in 10 appearances. Daigle is tied for fourth in the PCL with six saves and tied with Memphis' Fernando Salas for the PCL lead with six saves in May. Seven of the eight earned runs he has allowed this season came in three of 18 outings, all blown saves. Both home runs Daigle has allowed this season were ninth-inning, game-tying, two-run shots. ... Michael Garciaparra is riding an eight-game hitting streak that dates back to his first stint with the Express; he is hitting .500 (9-for-18) with three pinch hits in that time. Garciaparra posted his first career Triple-A multiple-hit game Friday night. ... Chris Johnson has hit safely in 14 of 17 games with the Express, producing a sacrifice fly in each of the three hitless games. Despite missing the May's first nine games, Johnson still is tied for ninth in the league with 12 extra-base hits this month and ranks fifth in slugging percentage (.642). ... Matt Kata is 0-for-15 since going 4-for-4 Tuesday to extend his hitting streak to 13 games, the longest by an Express player this season. Interestingly, he suffered an 0-for-9 skid immediately before beginning the 13-game streak. Still, Kata is hitting .373 (56-for-150) in 36 games since breaking out of a 4-for-38 slump to start the season. Kata has committed only one error in 97 total chances (20 games) at second base this season, posting a .990 fielding percentage. He has converted 78 consecutive chances at second base without an error (16 games); his last error at second base was April 11 in the season's fourth game. Kata is tied for fourth in the PCL in hits (60), best in the league among switch hitters. ... Drew Locke has hit safely in 10 consecutive starts (.400, 16-for-40) and in 16 of 17 starts (.390, 23-for-59). He is hitting .353 (24-for-68) since May 5 and has multiple hits in each of the last four games. His current six-game hitting streak is his longest of the season and third streak of five-plus games this season. All five of his home runs this season have come in the last 12 games (since May 16). He is tied for sixth in the PCL with five home runs this month. ... Yordany Ramirez suffered an 8-for-58 skew (.138) over a 21-game stretch from April 20 through May 22, collecting only one multiple-hit game in that time. He hit safely in each of the next four games with three multiple hits in that time before going 0-for-6 in Friday's series opener. Ramirez is hitting .300 (12-for-40) since May 14. He is hitless in his last seven pinch-hit appearances after starting the year 2-for-2 as a pinch hitter. ... Chris Shelton has missed each of the last three games with soreness in his left hand, his only missed action this season. Shelton leads the Express with eight home runs, four of which have been solo shots. He ranks second in the PCL with seven homers in May, which ties for fifth in Minor League Baseball. Shelton leads the team with hits in 32 games and has hit .279 or better all season, dipping below .285 only for a four-at-bat period in late April. ... Sergio Perez earned his first career Triple-A victory against Las Vegas in Thursday's series finale. He has worked 7.0 innings in each of his first two starts with the Express. ... Polin Trinidad has allowed three home runs over his last two outings after not allowing a round-tripper in his first seven appearances. ... Andy Van Hekken has a 14-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio over his last two outings. His nine strikeouts Friday at Omaha were a season high; he has 17 strikeouts over 14.0 innings in two starts against Omaha this season.

Round Rock makes returns home for its fourth home stand of the season after the four-game series at Omaha. The Express host Iowa and Nashville on the upcoming home stand, starting with a 7:05 p.m. CDT first pitch Tuesday, June 1, against the Cubs at The Dell Diamond.
