New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

Chris Davis hit a three-run homer to break a 3-3 tie in the seventh inning, leading the Oklahoma City RedHawks from behind and past the New Orleans Zephyrs 8-5 on Saturday night.

Oklahoma City trailed 3-2 entering the seventh, but struck for four runs against Zephyrs reliever Brett Sinkbeil, who had been called upon to get out of a sixth inning jam, but could not navigate the seventh.

Sinkbeil (0-1) allowed four hits in the inning, including Garko's third home run of the season, marking the first runs scored off Sinkbeil in May after starting the month with 14 2/3 scoreless innings.

The Zephyrs erased an early 1-0 deficit with three consecutive singles in the bottom of the first. Logan Morrison delivered an RBI single, the first of his three hits on the night, to tie the score. Hector Luna followed with a sacrifice fly.

The lead grew to 3-1 in the fourth when Donnie Murphy led off with a home run to left, his second homer in as many games and eighth of the season, tying him for the team lead.

New Orleans saw a chance to extend its lead evaporate in the fifth, as RedHawks starter Michael Kirkman walked the bases loaded, but escaped unscathed when Hernan Iribarren threw out Jason Lane attempting to score on a fly ball to left for an inning-ending double play.

Trailing 6-3 in the seventh, the Zephyrs scored twice on a run-scoring ground out by Javier Guzman and an RBI double by Morrison, but stranded the potential tying run in scoring position.

The series continues Sunday at 2 p.m., with right-hander Jose Rosario getting the start in his Zephyrs debut, facing RedHawks lefty Michael Ballard.
