Frisco RoughRiders News Release

FRISCO, TEXAS (July 26, 2015) - Josh Hader and Ruben Alaniz allowed only two runs through 7 2/3 innings as the Corpus Christi Hooks defeated the Frisco RoughRiders 5-2 on Sunday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. A.J. Reed and Jon Kemmer hit back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning to extend the Hooks lead.

A two-run fifth inning helped Corpus Christi (16-14, 64-36) jump on top. Kemmer slapped an RBI-single to break a 1-1 tie and Reed crossed the plate on a fielder's choice to put the Hooks ahead, 3-1.

Reed's single in the first inning scored Hernandez and the Hooks led 1-0. The Riders answered in the second when Drew Robinson worked a two-out walk and rounded the bases on an Alex Burg RBI-double to tie the contest, 1-1.

Two-straight homers in the fifth frame gave the Hooks a 5-1 advantage. The Riders cut into the deficit in the eighth when Luis Mendez scored on Ryan Cordell's sacrifice fly.

Jose Leclerc and Josh Hader received no decisions for their starts. Leclerc allowed one run on four hits and needed 87 pitches over four innings. Hader tossed four innings of one-run ball and struck out six.

Juan Grullon dropped the decision, as he allowed two runs in his lone inning of work. Alaniz picked up his third win throwing 3 2/3 innings. Chris Cotton notched his fourth save and the Hooks won, 7-6.

The RoughRiders (17-12, 46-53) welcome the Midland RockHounds on Monday at 7:05 p.m. with RHP Jake Thompson opposing RHP Tim Atherton. It's another Big Money Monday, where one fan in attendance will be selected as the RoughRiders' "Big Money" contestant with a chance to win a big money jackpot based on either a game situation or a game of chance.
