Calgary Roughnecks News Release

CALGARY, AB - Calgary Roughnecks President and General Manager Brad Banister announced today that the club has signed transition player Mark Scherman. Terms of the deal were not disclosed and are subject to league approval. Carlton Schuss has been released from the Roughnecks' roster.

Scherman, who was raised in Calgary, previously played for the Toronto Rock. This will be his third season in the NLL.

"I am very excited to play in my hometown," said Scherman. "I couldn't be happier. The Roughnecks look good. The team is put together well, and I'm excited to have a chance to win a Champion's Cup."

Last year, Scherman racked up six points (2g, 4a) and six penalty minutes in six games with the Rock. He also scooped up 27 loose balls in that time.

"I plan on bringing some energy, youth and speed to the team," added Scherman.

The twenty-five year old currently coaches the Calgary Jr. A Raiders, along with his new teammate Bruce Codd. Scherman played for the Raiders himself before being drafted by the Rock.

The Calgary Roughnecks head to Florida this weekend to face-off against the Orlando Titans. The game starts at 5:30 p.m. MST and will be broadcast live on www.nll.com.
