Orlando Titans News Release

TITANS WELCOME DEFENDING CHAMPIONS TO ORLANDO

The Orlando Titans (6-3) to look to maintain their lead in the Eastern Division this weekend when they welcome the defending NLL Champion Calgary Roughnecks (5-4) to Amway Arena. Orlando is currently riding a two-game winning streak and has won five of its last seven games. After starting the season 1-3, Calgary has won four out of its last five and only a heart-breaking 12-11 loss to West Division leader Washington has kept the Roughnecks from being perfect since Jan. 30. Titans Head Coach Ed Comeau is not looking at this weekend's contest as a revenge game. "Last year's championship game seems so long ago," Comeau said. "We're a different team and so are they. We're looking at this game as an opportunity to build momentum and try to increase our lead in our division." Tickets for Saturday's home game are available by calling 407-601-6516 or by visiting the Amway Arena Box Office or all TICKETMASTER outlets. Both games will be broadcast on the Orlando Titans Radio Network (ESPN 1080 AM and WKIQ 1240 AM Eustis).

YOUNG PLAYERS PLAY KEY ROLE IN WEEKEND SWEEP

With star forward Casey Powell (knee), Bill Greer, and Greg and Stephen Peyser missing from the lineup last Friday against Philadelphia, Titans Head Coach Ed Comeau was not sure what to expect. What he got was outstanding efforts from rookies Jessie Guerin and Nick O'Hara, as well as second-year player Mike Ammann as the Orlando Titans took an 11-9 win over the Wings. Guerin had a huge game, scoring one goal and adding three assists; while Ammann helped anchor a Titans' defense that allowed just six goals over the final 46:04 of the game. With Powell still missing on Saturday, Mat MacLeod - another young player - stepped up with two goals and an assist in Orlando's 9-4 road domination of the Rochester Knighthawks. "It's why you need depth," Comeau said following the wins. "Injuries and the occasional back-to-back are part of the game and I thought our young guys responded well to the challenge."

TITANS BACK ON TOP IN POWER RANKINGS

With a pair of wins, the Orlando Titans regained first place in Brian "Shanny" Shanahan's weekly NLL Power Rankings for NLLInsider.com. The Titans took over the top spot two weeks ago for just the second time in franchise history but fell back to second with its 12-10 road loss to Buffalo. Orlando's two wins, combined with Calgary's tough 12-11 loss to Washington, propelled Orlando back to the top of the ratings. "You also have to be impressed with the Orlando Titans who won both of their games this weekend - without Casey Powell," Shanahan remarked in releasing this week's power ratings.
